π Data Tables β Every Permutation, Instantly
"One formula. Hundreds of outcomes."
This section highlights one of Excelβs most powerful yet underutilized tools: Data Tables. With just a single formula as the base, these tables evaluate dozens (or hundreds) of input permutations in one go β no VBA, no copy-pasting, no redundancy.
π How It Works
In this project, Data Tables are used to show:
π° Net Present Value of Leasing for each car model across 1β5 year terms
π Percentage Discounts vs. outright purchase for over 40 vehicle types
Each row represents a vehicle. Each column is a lease term. Behind the scenes, a single engine formula calculates the present value or discount, and Excel's What-If engine fills in the rest.
π Why Data Tables Are a Game-Changer
β Speed: Model all possible scenarios without duplicating formulas or sheets
β Simplicity: One formula drives the entire matrix
β Clarity: Easily present ranges of outcomes for decision-makers or stakeholders
β Power: Perfect for pricing models, contract negotiation prep, budgeting tools, or capital investment trade-offs
π§ Applications Beyond This Model
This technique can be used in:
π¦ Capital management: testing multiple discount rate and duration scenarios
π Contract negotiation: comparing vendor terms and payment timing
π Budget planning: projecting operating cost ranges across departments or portfolios
π Examples in This Report
$ Discount Table β Shows cash benefit from leasing for every vehicle and term
% Discount Table β Shows how much value is retained vs. full purchase over time
Scenario Table for Q8 e-tron β Highlights the benefit curve across lease durations
With structured inputs, a clean logic engine, and a Data Table view, the model provides instant insight at scale β and can easily be extended to other financial use cases.
